ISLAND SECRETS A great secret was hidden in a small ibizian church

It almost always happens the same way. They start renovating a building and, after removing a layer of limestone, a grand treasure is revealed. Sometimes they ́re artisanal ceilings, other times its moulding. With a little luck, some frescos. In the peculiar church of Sant Miquel de Balansat, one of the oldest fortified temples on the island which was constructed over a Mozarabic farmhouse, a treasure was discovered: underneath the walls of the central nave was an exquisite frieze dating back to the 19th century.

Here, the charming story of a Balearic peasant farming family is narrated, and on the other, the capture of the British ship Felicity by the pirates. They were delicately and innocently done. Its small size makes us admire them closely. Its impossible to not get excited while gazing at the lovely rural figures and the Ibizan farm allegories from when this place was so maravelously remote. A delicious treat with the most concetrated taste of the island.
