SECONDCITY A LIFE OF HOUSE MUSIC

Your mum introduced you to house music with her fitness instructor tapes when you were a child?

That’s right. My mum used to go clubbing a lot in Chicago and occasionally she would drag me to her exercise classes when I was a kid, so I would I hear a lot of music that way. When I was 10 I started to practise on turntables and I’d use her amazing collection of vinyl to learn with. She is a legend.

You have been a resident DJ at the brilliant Abode at Sankeys in Ibiza this summer, why do DJs love this venue so much?

The sound system, the darkness, no tables just a dancefloor - and a real connection with the crowd. I love the intimacy.

I hear you nearly died in a plane crash here not so long ago?

Oh god, I don’t even know if I want to talk about it to be honest haha! There was a bad storm and we were heading towards the sea at 500mph. The pilot saved us all, not the best night of my life.

Loads of new music coming out I hear?

Yep that’s right, a remix for Denney coming out any day, an EP on Toolroom in September and an EP with Max Chapman on Green Velvet’s Relief which I am so excited about as I have been a huge fan for years.
