When the Entourage Group opens its latest outpost on Ibiza in June, it will herald the dawn of one of the island’s most exciting restaurant openings this summer. Prepare yourselves for IZAKAYA, an Asian-inspired bar and kitchen centred around Japanese cuisine with flecks of South American influences. Already an iconic restaurant in Amsterdam, IZAKAYA is a favourite among the European jet-set, and with inside and outside space that will sprawl across the newly-opened Sir Joan hotel’s ground floor, not to mention Dalt Vila views, it’s set to become a social hub for the White Isle’s in-the-know, sun-seeking elite. Culinarily speaking, a contemporary twist will be added to the food’s authentic essence, so expect to be wowed by the restaurant’s unique take on sushi and sashimi; to sample Sakana, small dishes perfect for sharing; and to try specialities from the traditional Hibachi ‘fire bowl’, a small Japanese hot plate. Acclaimed interior designers Baranowitz + Kronenberg are responsible for the décor, so the restaurant’s urban DNA - initially defined in Amsterdam - will be carried to the shores of Ibiza, but of course with an island-inspired update. Think walknut wood planks with stainless steel details, an open kitchen, and of course, plenty of room for socialising.
