Newbies to Ibiza should know that locals don’t eat dinner until 9pm at the earliest. But Don’t Panic. That doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t still fill our boots. Luckily, there are restaurants on the island that conjure tasty fare in the early evening as well as late at night, ensuring we all get to enjoy dinner before hitting the sack or club; mood dependent. One such place is Mariner in the port of Ibiza, where the food and friendly service is as excellent as the harbour view. Specialising in a range of tasty seafood, as well as other dishes, it’s an ideal place to people watch while you dine. Standouts from the menu Ibizan prawn carpaccio – the intense flavour comes from the oil you get from frying the prawn’s head, the grilled octopus with kimchi and potatoes (heavenly, trust us), and the prawn, sea cucumber, scallop and pancetta. Wash it all down with cocktails (The Mariner or Ibiza Sunrise do the trick) and it won’t be long before you’re living la vida loca like a local.
