NEW IN THE CLUBS 2016 What is new on the coolest dance fllors on the white island this summer

As Ibiza inches ever closer to becoming a year-round destination, this summer will not only be the busiest on record but will also witness the fiercest battle ever between the clubs who have all delivered some mouthwatering line ups. The big news at Ushuaïa towers is the departure of Armin Van Buuren’s weekly trance session to be replaced by the new ‘Blue’ party. Masterminded by the in-house production team and promising a ‘fresh summer daytime party’, it features a star-studded line-up including Oliver Heldens, Robin Schulz, Sam Feldt and Lost Frequencies. Remember how mysterious Ants was when it began and how absolutely insane Saturdays turned out to be? Well, Thursdays at Ushuaïa just got really interesting, especially when you hear the news that Kygo will also be zipping in for three separate exclusive shows in July and August. Lovers of the Buuren sound fear not, however, as the big man from Leiden will be returning to Playa d’en Bossa’s finest for two dates as well as three up at Amnesia. David Guetta returns for another massive summer, this year his theme is BIG – think everything oversized! And talking of Ants, wow… just how good is their branding this season? We loved all the clever playon- words slogans such as ‘Music Is The Antswer’ and ‘Keep On Dantsing’, but Yann and his team have produced something extra special for 2016 with Paris and Dublin photographers Nick & Chloé taking it to the next level with their Reflections themes. Just beautiful. Also at Ushuaïa watch out for Steve Aoki who has packed up and left Pacha to bring us five stunning Neon Future parties. The big question is: will his dinghy be getting inflated for the summer now that he is back by the seaside? And what about superstar Solomun signing on the dotted line for three mammoth events in June and September? Roadblock time! And finally from the number one venue in Ibiza, check out Tinie Tempah’s Disturbing Ibiza party on Fridays either side of Martin Garrix with six super special shows. You know he is going to rock it…

Sundays at Space with some huge names flying in, including the Do Not Sleep crew on the Terrace with resident Darius Syrossian. Watch out for superstars such as Danny Tenaglia, 2manydjs, John Digweed and Derrick Carter taking care of your Sunday sessions. Now, who hasn’t heard of the legendary La Troya? The explosive party by Brasilio de Oliveira returns to Space for a stunning looking Wednesday residency featuring Oscar Colorado and Camilo Franco; a brilliant night of utter madness awaits you. Also making their Space debut are the Afterlife crew on Thursdays promising ‘hypnotic basslines and energetic crescendos’ with Tale of Us curating 13 nights alongside the likes of Dixon, Mano Le Tough, Todd Terje and Recondite. Very cool. And watch out for Saturdays with elrow who have really splashed out this season with an all-star residents dream team of Sasha, Eats Everything, Andrea Oliva, Groove Armada, Joris Voorn, Paco Osuna and Richy Ahmed. An atmosphere to savior. Rounding the week at Space off is another new gem in Onyx every Monday, commissioned by DJ/Producer Mikaela who will be delivering techno ‘in its purest form’ with explorative live shows, unexpected back-to-backs and a whole host of electronic pioneers including Dave Clarke, Alan Fitzpatrick, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Josh Wink and Panorama Bar’s Redshape. It’s fair to say that Mondays just got a whole lot darker…

Pacha has raised a few eyebrows this summer with the announcement that Flower Power moves to Mondays and will be booking international guest DJs for the first time in it’s 36-year history. In addition, each week will open with a full new show including new costumes and décor adding to the excitement of the biggest hippy party on the planet. Taking its place on Tuesdays is the all-new Mosaic brought to us by the incredible Maceo Plex delivering a midweek dose of ‘panoramic techno and house’ which looks a real musical treat with guests including DJ Koze, Pearson Sound, Scuba and Radio Slave. Definitely one of the coolest additions to the Ibiza calendar this year. Meanwhile, Insane have really shaken things up for 2016, now featuring parties within a party on Fridays. Check out Luciano and his Vagabundos night making a welcome return to Pacha, Nic Fanciulli with his We Are The Night, MK with Area 10 and Hot Since going all Knee Deep. Four amazing producers set to get the weekend started right. Also check Richie Hawtin making his Solomun+1 debut on Sundays: what a back-to-back party that will be… Guy Gerber fresh for 2016 moves his Rumors session to Destino every Sunday with a ‘bespoke area solely created for the residency’. With a limited capacity, there is no doubt that Rumors will be one the highlights of the year… Sankeys are another club that has had a big shake up over the winter with loads of new happenings. We are loving the new Applebum hip-hop sessions on Tuesdays with the likes of the Sugar Hill Gang, Jazzy Jeff, DJ Premier and NWA’s DJ Yella bringing the noise. Dance 88/89 will be taking us back to the days of the M25 rave days with legends Fabio & Grooverider, Danny Rampling, Adamski and The Ratpack among many others alongside residents DJ Alfredo and Bushwacka on Wednesdays, while Unusual Suspects settle in for a Thursday weekly with Detroit Love and starring the likes of Rhadoo, Dubfire, Nina Kraviz, Margaret Dygas, Green Velvet and Carl Craig. The Unusual Suspects’ sneaky one-offs over the chilly months were memorable to say the least. And if it is a rocking atmosphere you are looking for then look no further than Clockwork Orange who return in July with their usual 1,000 nutters in tow reclaiming the island for a few days. This year they have shifted their club part of their weekend from Es Paradis to Sankeys for another night of classic anthems: Friday 22 July is your date. Also have a peek at London’s Abode getting in the action on Fridays with the Mambo Brothers, Yousef, Huxley, Lauren Lane and Oliver Dollar… proper house music in a proper warehouse environment… Acid Sundays – the party that scooped the Best Ibiza Night 2015 at the DJ Awards ceremony at Pacha – return for another exciting looking summer at Heart in Ibiza Town’s Marina Botafoch with a ‘psychedelic wild nature’ theme with some amazing artists joining Acid Pauli including Satori, Nico Stojan, Vodohoop, Oceanvs Orientalis and Matanza. Everything starts earlier than last year meaning that the dinner and the party merge together. Go check it out and see what all the hype is about… Up the hill at Privilege the alwaysrammed SuperMartXé moves to Saturdays while over the road at Amnesia we lose Defected’s residency at Together as they go it alone with their usual extra special superstar guests. Last year’s debutant Hyte rolls up its sleeves for another summer of Wednesday techno with the announcement that Enzo Siragusa and his FUSE brand will be joining the family with a series of main room parties. Paris Hilton continues her Foam & Diamonds nonsense in the Main Room on Saturdays while on the Terrace Matinée unveil a new ‘Art – Music’ concept and for the first time will join forces with outside promoters such as We Party, Forever Tel Aviv and The Week Brazil. Cream grab some headlines too on their usual Thursday nighter, announcing debuts for Steve Aoki and Diplo plus Fatboy Slim’s first ever residency in Ibiza with seven exclusive parties out on the Terrace.

Amnesia and Together are also joining forces for the brand new Rhythm & Waves at Cova Santa on three Thursdays in July featuring three exclusive showcases from Chase And Status, Rudimental and Tinie Tempah & Katie B – all in this unique setting high up in the San Jose hills once used by pirates back in the 15th century. What a perfect setting to get the rum out for some magical Mojito moments… Down in San Antonio Eden look to be back on track with some very cool nights including Shortee Blitz and his HY-PWA on Tuesdays plus Nick Warren’s Sound Garden joining forces with Audio Circus on Sundays. Judge Jules has also come out all guns blazing with a new look Judgement Fridays party featuring the likes of DJ EZ and Paul Van Dyk on the world-famous VOID sound system. Elsewhere, Retro return to the island for some Monday fun at Es Paradis, Craig David brings his TS5 Pool Party to Ibiza Rocks House at Pike’s on Sundays from July alongside the new Saturday night Cous Cous weekly and there’s a very special Tonga party in July with Mike Skinner and Murkage. That will be chaos. And if you want things a bit more chilled, then why not join the Café Mambo team who are really excited about a full summer at the island’s new number one sunset spot Hostal La Torre. Now that is a view… What a summer we have in store – now all we have to do is find those pesky secret after-party locations…
